Nick- Thanks for the review – your comments will be beneficial as we embark on another rebuild of the site!
…a couple of quick comments:
1. Our main navigation bar at the top is not in the right spot – we new this going in but was a mad as a best choice for the time. We didn’t have a global Audience based nav and wanted to this in. We knew it would enhance the navigation for all audiences. At the time we were not ready to do a full rebuild so this would have to be an add-on. With sever different headers around the site and some sub-sites that had slightly different designs this seemed like the only choice.
This brings up the question of how much I/A and Nav changes can one really make without doing a complete rebuild? Our school is growing – things are changing and Nav creep happens – at what point do you say we need to chuck what we have and rebuild?
2. Thinking from a student perspective is so important! Students also don’t always think linear. We had this great plan to take them along this path to help them understand what programs we have before they make the choice of viewing a specific program information – when all it seems they wanted is good program information. Our analytics is showing this as the top viewed area of the site but – as you pointed out – it was difficult to get a direct path there. I think we listened to the consultants to blindly on this one
Our new I/A will have a more direct route to the programs.
Thanks again for the review!

Favorite part is working with student workers. They really make the day. Expect that post coming soon.
