The mobile web is expanding every day. It is important to make your content available to those phones is crucial. If you can customize your page display to be optimized for specific phones your users will thank you. The few major mobile browsers should be your primary targets but at least a base mobile browser view would work. Even if you aimed for just your content without all the fluff it would be a great first step.

    Funny MSU scored so high; I recently graduated from Michigan State and I always despised how difficult it was to find anything on msu.edu!

    @Kristen It did get high marks but you have to realize it was just based on a 10 minute initial visit. An in depth examination might reveal something completely different.

    I expected MSU to get high marks from Edu Checkup, since I remember when MSU spoke about the web redesign process at World Usability Day a couple years ago.

    Excellent focus on usability, user experience, and accessibility, which is no less than what I would expect given their experienced staff and resources at http://usability.msu.edu/

    I would mark them much lower on visuals. There’s nothing interesting visually – it gives the vibe of a much smaller, less capable, university. I would say that the high marks on information are correct, but at the expense of visuals. Looks like it was designed at the turn of the millennium.
