Today’s Tip:
Screen sizes are increasing on the desktop and getting more unique on mobile devices. Using a 100% width is dangerous because the flow of information is no longer in your control. Landing on a page that is full width on a desktop can make items that need to be related visually far from each other. The opposite effect happens on a mobile device, items may be squished together and the impact of the relationships are lost. It is best to stick with one resolution, design for it and ensure the visual relationships stay intact on various devices.

I was under the impression that flexible layouts was the future of web design because there is really no way to predict what size the viewing screen will be for a particular visitor in today’s world. Their particular version of a flex layout may have some problems, but I think it’s a field that’s still in flux, and best practices have yet to be established.

It appears to me that the file size on the images is much larger than it needs to be – even some of the smaller thumbs below the main banner img are over 100k – Am I just too old school or is 400k – 500k not too much anymore?
